The Lewis Family

It's the little moments that mean the very most to me when I'm photographing families. It is the giggles, the cuddles, it's the hugs and the laughs. These moments intertwined together make the most special memories. People often ask why I don't do the typical "posed" photographs. I find my self wondering why I don't conform to the usual looking at the camera photographs. And I guess, I like my images to tell a story. I want your session and gallery to unfold before you and to tell of our time together. I want you to be able to piece together Portraits that you can arrange in a way to make a wonderful wall collage or Photobook, or special photo album...That to me is timeless.

The sweet Lewis family let me do just that. They let me tell THEIR story in photographs! I hope you enjoy their session and getting to know them they way I did!

And in 37 minutes everything changed...

37 minutes. 37 minutes is all it took for my life to change, for something so small to come into your life and completely uproot everything that you've ever known. I imagined her face, I imagined her smell, her hair, her eyes, her lips. She came out even greater than I could ever imagine. Our Sweet Piper Quinn...

Here is a small peek in side my soul for a second...

Meaningless, that is the one word that ran through my mind during those first hours. I thought that I would feel that my life was meaningless before I met my sweet piper. But on the contrary, if anything who i was BEFORE piper has as much purpose as who I am now. I am not going to lie to you though I had this great fear that i would lose who I am as a person and individual after I had her. But if anything Being a mom has taught me so much more about who i am as a person and Christ follower. Piper makes me a better person. She helps me daily practice the fruit of the spirit.  You see, I wear many hats, and now I get to add mother to that list..

in 37 minutes our world and our hearts got a little bigger; Piper Quinn came in calm, quiet but fierce. I hope her spirit continues to radiate those traits. The peace I felt during that whole experience was something I never will forget. I only felt that wave of peace and calmness one other time and it was calvin and I's wedding day, so if that wasn't gods way of reassuring my anxious heart then i truly do not know what is....

I thought about how I would even begin to share this part of our story

I thought about who would even CARE to hear it...

So I am going to do what I do best use images to speak for me, to tell our tranistion into this new life with our little girl!

Introducing our sweet Piper Quinn

Thank you to my sweet photog friend sarah for caputring our birth for us!

Thank you to my sweet mom for capturing the three of us before we left the hospital!

Thank you to my sweet mom for capturing the three of us before we left the hospital!

The Sutton Family

Oh, this sweet family. I am having such a hard time on where to even begin on explaining how special this family is. They are LOVE. Pure Love. The way they Love Jesus, the way they love each other, the way they love their family, the way they love their friends, the way they love their youth, the way they love their community...they are simply just LOVE. You see Christ through Kirra and taylor. It's not often you can say you meet someone who loves like christ the way they do. Kirra is such a sweet friend of mine, she is BEYOND selfless, so extremely giving. There is no one who asks for forgiveness like Kirra, who hugs like kirra, who is empathetic like kirra. and Taylor, he is so gentle and so encouraging and quietly strong. I love watching him love my friend.

This Family Has blessed many...

And I am one of the lucky ones who has been EMENSLY blessed to know them. They make me want to be a better Christ follower, a better spouse, and makes me want to strive to be the best mom I can be.

You can not meet this family and not leave feeling Blessed and Loved.

Kirra today is your 31st birthday, you know know i'm not the best at being ...selfless, or good at remembering things, or good at being intentional or good at being make me want to be a better friend and to be well, just BETTER in general.

and i hope you felt every bit as special as you ARE today!

Thank you Suttons' for being Jesus to SO many people!

Alex Wendt | Zionsville High School Senior 2017 (SpokesModel Promo Shoot)

Senior year is beyond a magical time. It's full of, Wonder, dreams, Faith, hope, stress, chaos and seeking more deeply for your identity. Senior year, is full of change, of decision making, of seeking more independence, it's full of new beginnings but it's also full of "lasts" and endings of all we knew for the last 12 years in the school system.

I love photographing seniors.

There is this ALIVENESS and INDIVIDUALITY in them. They have passions and Dreams unscorched by the harshness of life. They have wounds and stories. They have lived and experienced a lot,  YET have SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN, LIVE AND EXPERIENCE.

Seniors Bring out this creativity in me and my business...they stretch me to go beyond the conventional. They bring fashion, personality and their spirit with them to their shoot. THEY LOVE THE SHOOTING EXPERIENCE. THEY LOVE PLANNING AND COORDINATING THEIR "SPECIAL" EXPERIENCE. I love that. wouldn't you? High school can leave you feeling on top of the world yet so alone and so unloved and unworthy. Girls can be mean and Boys can be well Boys. And that can leave a person feeling, not enough! The senior portrait experience allows you to see yourself truly how you are...preserving YOU in this huge milestone moment in your life. It allows you to feel and see truly how beautful you are INSIDE & OUT! I Love the moment my girls see their pictures. I love how they feel during the whole experience. It makes my heart SOAR.

The other evening I had the chance to photography Alex. I also had the pleasure of doing hair and make-up also for this sweet girl and I think one of my favorite parts about doing makeup for them is you get to talk and connect with them. I love hearing about their dreams and not only what they are envisioning for their shoot but for their future!! Alex, you're beautiful inside and out!

I can just see her and who she is and her soul in these pictures. I hope you can too. and I hope these photos take you back and help you remember that time in your life.

The Wallgren Family

Last Evening I had the absolute priviledge to photograph the sweetest family. If you knew me at all you knew I used to hate photographing families; but NOW I find them WONDERFUL, magical, messy, beautiful and absolutely chaotic. The moments you get to capture, the time you get to spend with sweet families, the way you get to reassure the moms that YES all families have their "moments"! I think thats why I love photographing them...there is beauty in the chaos. I say let the kids be little, let them BE them. If you want posed, traditional family photos then I don't think I am the right photographer for you. I love the imperfections of families. I Don't think I truly ever explained my "motto" Evoking Feelings & Preserving Memories...And THAT is what I got to do last night! I got to evoke feelings and preserve memories for this beautiful family!

If you know the wallgrens at all you know how simply wonderful they are. to know them is to LOVE them. They are the real deal. I truly do not think I can put into words how great they are so instead here are photos from their session with me.  And truly consider to yourself are you preserving moments in your families life? :)

Breaking the Silence...

7 months. It has been SEVEN LONG months since i've written a blog post. I'm not quite sure what has prompted my silence. I think my heart needed healing, I think I just needed TIME. I'm not sure if any of you can relate or not but life, especially ministry life can be daunting, it can be weathering and exhausting and my soul needed repaired. Alot of things can change in 7 months and for the bryant house we have one of the BIGGEST changes getting ready to show up in early September of 2016. We get to welcome our sweet little girl Piper Quinn Bryant into the world.

The news of Piper was shocking to me...I didn't think that part of life was going to be apart of "our Story". But God is gracious, God is merciful and God has a plan. For that I am SO overjoyed and thankful, thankful, that I get to experience this miracle of life. But with miracles and Life come tragedy. This year within three months 3 people who I cared deeply for, or who have made an impact on my life passed away unexpectedly...or ministry came trials, or balancing marriage got more difficult, or business got more discouraging, or financial burdens kept creeping in...Basically "when it rains it pours" kinda thing...

Ministry is hard, preparing for a new life is hard, business is hard, expectations get let down, people hurt you, you hurt people, you fail and sin...and sin again because thats who we are as humans...

Life...Life is not easy and as I'm writing this, the song that I am listening to and the song that this post is about is "come as you are" by Crowder it is the anthem to this post, I think its what kinda urged me to write again. The words have been healing my heart and no matter where you are in this Life, no matter how messy and complicated life gets or how far you have gone I encourage you to trust the words of this song and just to go to Christ..... AS. YOU. ARE... broken, hurt, lost, confused, lonely...just let Jesus cover you. And PLEASE do not let satan take your voice, don't let life beat you down that you feel like you have nothing left to say, that you aren't worthy of sharing...So break the silence... Like the song says there is no earthly sorrow that heaven can't heal...

"Come As You Are"

Come out of sadness
From wherever you've been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There's hope for the hopeless
And all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't cure

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are
There's joy for the morning
Oh sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are

Blessings and here's to breaking the silence...TOGETHER,

Mitch & Kayla | IU Engagements

Kayla's Story...

"In the Fall of 08, I had an 8am class with a professor that very closely resembled Santa Claus (we're still not sure that he isn't the real deal) and I always sat in the 2ndish row. Without fail, there was always this kid that would sit directly in front of me and would NEVER stop talking. One day, when I was leaving class (in Ballantine Hall) and walking to another (in the HPER building), I saw this guy walking on the sidewalk who was in the next class with me. He had on his IU football sweatpants and probably matching t-shirt and back pack and he was SO CUTE! I remember thinking I didn't know what to say to him so, instead, I walked as fast as I could past him on the side walk and kept my head down. By the time I got up the huge ramp to enter the building, I was sweating and out of breath. I had a little time before my next class so I went and sat at a desk in a tiny hallway that people used to sit at and study in the HPER building. Just as I sat down, the same guy I just blew past on the side walk is at the end of the hallway walking toward me. So, of course I start freaking out but play it cool and just pretend to be studying. He kept getting closer and closer and I thought for sure he was going to walk right past me and then all of the sudden he stopped and said "Hey, are you in that class too?" I turned around and said "Yeah, I'm Kayla! What's your name?" And with the cutest grin while sticking his hand out he said, "Mitchell." To which I replied, "Mitchell...Can I call you Mitch?!" And he just laughed at me and that was about the extent of the conversation before continued to walk down the hallway.

All day, I remember thinking about how cute I thought this Mitch guy was and told a few of my friends about him, so of course... we tried looking him up on Facebook, but if you know Mitch at all, you know that he doesn't have one! The next time we had our 8am class I remember walking in and seeing Mitch sitting in a row by himself (probably sleeping) and I was about to walk past him when God gave me a shove and I looked at Mitch and blurted out (in my Forest Gump voice, I'm pretty sure), "Is this seat taken?!" Luckily, he didn't think I was too crazy and let me sit next to him. I remember going home one weekend not long after that and telling my mom about Mitch and telling her that I was going to "marry this kid," before we even started dating.

One day right before Thanksgiving Break, Mitch sneakily asked for my phone number and he quickly became one of my best friends. I waited what felt like FORRREVVVER for him to ask me out on a date (we went to see the first Transformers move) and then finally on September 9th, 2009, he asked me if I would be his girlfriend. To which I immediately said yes! After that, it's pretty much history... :)"

Mitchell's Story....

"Every 8am class in college seemed like a grind and Santa's class was no exception. One day after looking down to see who the guy was that kept distracting everyone by talking nonstop, I realized there was this beautiful girl sitting behind him. When class ended I exited the building out the back room and realized the girl from class was doing the same, so I purposely walked extra slow to give her the chance to catch up and talk to her about…class??? To my surprise, she went FLYING by me like Usain Bolt racing for gold! I remember laughing to myself thinking how that didn't work out at all like I had imagined and wondering where the heck she was going to in such a hurry. So I continued on to class, only to find the same girl sitting in the hallway of the HPER (I guess she just really wanted to sit in that hallway). Okay, my second chance, here we go! When I got closer to her, she turned to me with the biggest grin on her face. I introduced myself to her as "Mitchell" to which she quickly replied with "Nice to meet you Mitch! Can I call you Mitch?" I was thinking "absoolutellyy" :).

The next class with Santa I was extremely early (like always), and about to fall asleep, when I saw Kayla walking up to the seat next to me. She asked if the seat was taken. Again, with that big grin on her face. Turned out, we both hated that class, but every class for the rest of the semester we sat right next to each. It became one of the things I looked forward to the most every week.

I would eventually get Kay's number (probably waited a little too long on that one, but I got it!) and we became best friends. Come summer, we had our first date to go see the movie Transformers 2 or Revenge of the Fallen. Don't let her tell you it was the first transformers, she always does, but it must have went really well because we have been inseparable since. I have never loved her more than I do now and I am so glad she doesn't walk that fast in real life."

The Proposal Story...

"I (kayla) was in Chicago visiting some of my girl friends for the weekend which also happened to be St. Patty's day weekend (Laura's favorite holiday), so Laura, Amy and I we were out celebrating ALL day on Saturday. After a day full of festivities, we decided to go back to Laura's to freshen up before dinner and meeting her parents for drinks. At about 5 o'clock, we hopped in a cab and the cab driver was not really up to Laura's standards and I could tell that she was getting really frustrated with his driving skills (or lack there of). Little did I know that we were on a timeline and I had a huge surprise waiting for me. After about 30 minutes, we arrived at the Planetarium, where I thought we were meeting Laura's parents for drinks before we met up with our other friends, Steph & Kristen for dinner. We got out of the cab and Laura started walking around while she was talking to her mom trying to figure out where to meet her parents. The scenery was gorgeous...with the city in the background and the water right behind us...Amy and I obviously took a few selfies, while Laura kept wandering around. After about 10 minutes of Amy & I complaining about Laura making us walk all over in our heels, she made us follow her around the building and get down on the sea wall next to the water....yeah, questionable, right? We thought it was just Laura being Laura so, of course we went along with it,, and that's when I saw Mitch standing there on the sea wall and in an instant, I knew what was happening. When I got close enough to see him, I skeptically said... "What are yooooou doing here?" He grabbed my hands (I immediately started ugly crying like Kimmy K) and said so many heart felt things, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. :) I'm not an easy person to surprise and I had absolutely no idea that Mitch and Laura had planned the entire thing. It was absolutely perfect."-Kayla

Jessica and I went to highschool together, I had the opportunity to cheer with her and now I get to be apart of her special day. I feel so honored that after a few years we get to reconnect in this awesome way! Jessica and Kyle I can not wait for your special day but until then here are your engagements. and here is your story :)

"Kyle and I met back in June 2009. We met at DuBois community days through mutual friends. We started talking about a week later. After a month of talking, Kyle took me on a date where we had our first kiss at the Shaggers inn lake. This would be the place where Kyle asked me to marry him about five years later. The last five years have been amazing and we have been inseparable ever since working side by side supporting each other as best friends and soul mates." -Jessica

Ty & Elizabeth | Engaged Part 2

Two days ago I got to capture Ty & Liz one more time before they say "I Do"! Let me just say how much they stole my heart. The way they love each other and embrace each other, its truly captivating. It was so much fun getting to follow them around with my camera and capture part of their love story! Now on to their pictures!

Ty & Elizabeth | Engaged Part 1

It's funny, I met Liz in college, she was roomates with a friend of mine, and I felt so flattered when she asked me to capture their special day, which then means that I got to capture their engagement photos! They are so sweet and so insanely in love. I can't wait till September Liz and Ty! :)

Here's Their Love story:

"How We Met:

I was working at Toby Hill Bar & Grill, while finishing my Accounting degree at Clarion University. He had finished his Management Information Systems degree at Penn State and was back in town. He would come in Thursday nights with his friends for Wing Night. I would always try to wait on their table so I could get just a few words in. I finally told a couple of my friends that I was crushing on him, even though we didn't speak a lot yet, I thought he was dreamy. The word got out and Ty asked me on our first date. We had dinner at Luigi's in DuBois and we became official February 27, 2011.

A year later... February 10, 2012:

He proposed!!!!!!! He planned a romantic weekend getaway to Holiday Valley. We arrived Friday night and got our lift tickets and skis. I was really excited and didn't want to start out on the beginner slopes so we went down Mardi Gras. Halfway down the hill I couldn't stop and went tumbling head over heels. Ty was scared to death, he was certain I had broken a bone. I got up dusted off and proceeded to walk the rest of the way down the hill, after popping my skis off, I was terrified! Ty insisted we go back over to the bunny slope so he could teach me how to stop and ski more controlled.

After a few trips down, he came up with the idea we should race. I was thinking yeah right, did you just see me roll down the hill?! I accepted his challenge and we took off. He beat me to the bottom and when I made it down to him he was on one knee holding a glowing ring box. I was speechless and in tears when he asked me forever, ever, and always. I said YES!

Two & a half years later... September 13, 2014: We will say I do in a little white church in Hamilton, PA. Our honored guests will help us celebrate being Mr. & Mrs. Ty Kepler for the first time! I couldn't ask for a more dreamy, caring, loving, helpful, supportive, handsome, amazing, best friend to spend the rest of my life with. Forever, ever, and always."

My Weekend With Everett

This was my first time meeting my baby nephew who was born once we moved to Arizona and he is now 8 months old. It was so neat following him around with my camera and just snapping some much needed pictures of the little guy (auntie amber was longing to have him in front of her camera) ! I don't know what it is about Lifestyle photos but they just warm my heart, I love the simplicity and the moments the portray. Little or should I say Big Boy Everett is the sweetest, smiliest, happy baby boy. We are so blessed by God to have him in our lives. I'm so blessed to be his auntie!

"Own Who You Are"

Calvin took a job as a Junior High Youth Pastor and it has been nothing short of a blessing. It has been a rollercoaster fll of laughs, tears and many many prayers, but it has been nothing short of amazing! We were hanging out at the church and me and 6 of my 6th grade girls decided to snap some headshots of them...Can you believe they are 11 and 12yrs old? Gosh...everyone *sigh*...unbelievable I know, right? They amaze me! Anyways, but we stressed the importance of "Owning who you are" and Owning who God made you to be. We stressed the importance on positive self image and really embracing the beauty we behold, the beauty that god gave us, and most importantly embracing the different "looks" we all have and how each person is beautiful in their own special way. So Here are some of my 6th grade girls Owning who they are!
